Last Invite

The King who was responsible for all the things people enjoyed in the land had a son who was going to be married. His son was to have a wedding party to beat all ceremonies ever had before. So the King sent out invitations to the nobles of the land. But the nobles kept coming up with reasons or excuses why they couldn’t come to the wedding party; one said, I have just gotten new machinery, I must go make sure it’s installed properly. Another said, I just started a remodel on my house and must watch over the sub-contractors. Another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. So the landowner/provider was angry and sent out invitations again, but this time they went out to the poor and lame and abused, saying to the servants, go to the highways and byways and gather them that appreciate what I’ve done for them and realize that they have no lease on life. I want my wedding tables that I’ve prepared to be furnished with guests. Then after they are gathered, go with my armies and slay the selfish and proud who steal and lie. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Paraphrased from Mat’ 22:2 and Luke 14:8)

“If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.”(John 15:24-)

“Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”  (1John 2:13-17)

“Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.”  (Proverbs 1:24-33)
