Fables

(2 Timothy 4:3–4) Warns us that “… the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

Fable 1: The “Imminent return” of Jesus where His followers will vanish one day, missing out on the more grevious trials and persecutions that await those Christians that will not receive the “mark”. (2Thess 2:2–4) “.. be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. “

The Bible says Jesus will come as a “Thief in the night” (1Thess_5:2–4), (2Peter_3:10) and it also says in (Mat 24:27) “ For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. “ (Mat 24:31) “And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.“ (1Thess 4:15–18) “For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

Most of the Christian world has had to endure persecutions all throughout history. See “A Lamp in the Dark: The Untold History of the Bible” by Adullum Films, or read Foxes “Book of Martyrs”, etc. “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” (2Tim 3:12) But many teachers and pastors tell them in most industrialized first world churches that we will be snatched away before the tribulation period starts. Apparently they think we won’t have to go through the same trials and tribulations as our brothers and sisters in the rest of the world. God justifies us (Romans 8:30, 1Cor 6:11) and also finds out if we will “keep the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end”(Heb 3:14). Those that seek to please man teach/preach we won’t have to go through any part of the tribulation period, yet “every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.”(1Cor 3:13) In (Revelation 7:14) it says “.. These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” and in (2 Timothy 3:12) “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution”

Fable 2: That Christians will obey God out of the goodness of our hearts and we are basically good people way down inside:

Jesus said “Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God.” (Mark 10:18) “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jer 17:9) “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.”(Psalm 51:17) God does change our hearts after we confess our sinful state before men, accept Jesus as our new Lord instead of self, and receive the Holy Spirit as our guide and comforter. “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;“(Titus 3:5) , (John 1:12) “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”

“Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Mathew 5:3)

Fable 3: That we will talk to God on His level:

“These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.” (Psalm 50:21–22) “Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:28–29) yet through the new covenant we can come to God with our requests and problems “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; (1 Timothy 2:5)

Fable 4: That we don’t need a fear of God:

I’m not talking about the unbiblical fear of God where we think we have to pray to Saints or Mary instead of to God in Jesus name in order to get through to God, but the fear of him that moves us to depart from evil and is clean, enduring for ever. (Prov 16:6, Psalm 19:9) “If we would seek for wisdom and understanding as we would seek for silver or hidden treasures” (Prov 2:4–5) “then we would understand the fear of the Lord”. Jesus said “.. I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.” (Luke 12:5) Jesus also said “.., That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.“ (Matthew 12:36) why would we not want to receive a wholesome fear of God for “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge”(Prov 1:7) and (Prov 14:27) “The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.”

Fable 5: that Gain is surely a sign of Godliness :

Not necessarily…”If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain.” (1Timothy 6:3–6) are we talking about the gain before or after we have given up many things for the kingdom of God? ” (Phillipians 3:7–8) (Proverbs 30:8–9) “Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.”

Fable 6: that all things continue as they were:

“And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. (2 Peter 3:4–7) “How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.” (Proverbs 1:22–23) “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” (Matthew 24:3–31) (Luke 17:20–37) (2Thess 2:1–12) note – “Eagles” translates as Vultures which puts a whole different meaning to (Luke 13:33–37)

Fable 7: that the old testament is not relevant any more:

“Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.” (Mat 13:52) “Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” (Mat 5:17–18) Yet ” Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: ” (Col 2:16)
